Authorities to Begin Eviction of Unauthorized Settlements Along Bagmati River in Thapathali

Kathmandu. The process to remove unauthorized squatter settlements located on public and government land along the banks of the Bagmati River in Thapathali is set to begin early this morning. Citing negative impacts on the river's natural flow and obstructions to urban infrastructure development, the Kathmandu District Administration Office, under government directive, had set a final deadline of 7 PM last Friday for the structures to be vacated.

With the deadline expired, the process of demolishing unauthorized huts and fully clearing the encroached areas will proceed starting today.
