Dozens of structures demolished in Bhaktapur's Manohara River settlement

Bhaktapur. Seventy percent of houses, shacks, and structures built illegally in the informal settlement along the Manohara River in Bhaktapur have been demolished today. Seven bulldozers from the Kathmandu Metropolitan City assisted in demolishing 70 percent of the structures in the informal settlement starting at 10:00 AM today.

District Police Range Bhaktapur Chief and Superintendent of Police Suryabahadur Khadka informed that the demolition work had to be halted today due to heavy rainfall and hail. Informing that the remaining structures to be demolished today will be taken down tomorrow (Monday), he mentioned that the remaining residents of the settlement had cooperated by moving all their belongings today, as 80 percent had already moved their belongings by yesterday.
