HIV Misconceptions Debunked: Appearance Does Not Indicate Infection

Kathmandu. HIV, or Human Immunodeficiency Virus, affects the body's immune system. With timely testing and treatment, people living with HIV can lead a normal and long life. However, many misconceptions about HIV still exist in society. One of them is that an HIV-infected person can be identified by their appearance.

According to Professor Dr. Neeraj Nishchal of the Department of Medicine at AIIMS, New Delhi, this notion is merely a myth. Most people with HIV can appear normal and healthy if they are undergoing regular treatment.
