Why is Holistic Education the Need of the Hour in Nepal?

While many schools in Nepal have imposed holistic education, we cannot deny the fact that there were several schools that focused only on academics. Although it might have helped the schools to produce results that they could be proud of, it is now time to rethink if focusing only on academics is still relevant.
Nepal has gone through several unprecedented events in the preceding decades and now, the COVID-19 pandemic has further taken the country aback in many sectors. The education sector which was defective was greatly affected by the pandemic. Physical education was not possible and conducting online classes was not easy. Implementing distance teaching and learning practice was a challenging endeavor. Yet, many schools did just that. However, it's difficult to gauge the academic outcomes of this mode of education. After the students came to schools and started to study and give assessments physically, it was a challenge for the schools to maintain the pre-pandemic level of academic outcomes. To engage students in academics in the same way as schools did in the past is still questionable, especially for those schools which highly boost their academics and their focus on academic outcomes.
