New Delhi. China is going to resume direct air connectivity with India. On the eve of Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to India, China Southern Airlines has announced that it will resume regular passenger flights between Guangzhou-New Delhi from September 21. The resumption of direct air service, which has been affected for about 6 years due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent border and diplomatic tensions between India and China, is being seen as a sign of gradual improvement in relations between the two countries. According to China Southern, after the resumption of flights to New Delhi, it will operate more than 100 flights per week on its eight inbound-outbound routes in South Asia. This is expected to facilitate trade, tourism, and people-to-people movement between India and China. With the resumption of direct flights after a long time, passengers will also have to depend less on flights connecting through third countries.
