Deuba Group Meeting Discusses 15th General Convention Participation

Kathmandu. The meeting of the Nepali Congress's Sher Bahadur Deuba faction is being held on Monday morning. The meeting is being held at Deuba's residence in Chunadevi, informed leader NP Saud. The meeting of the establishment's central working committee led by Gagan Thapa, which was held on Sunday, had decided to allow all central members who came from the 14th General Convention to participate in the 15th General Convention in the same capacity. Saud said that the meeting is being held to make a decision with its formal opinion on this matter. 'We are holding a meeting to decide how to move forward,' Saud told RatoPati, 'There is no situation to participate in the General Convention based on Sunday's decision.' Another leader, Deepak Khadka, informed that the meeting would decide not to participate in the General Convention. 'We are currently holding a meeting. We will make a decision not to participate in the General Convention from the meeting,' Khadka said. There has been a dispute in Congress since the special general convention held at the initiative of then-general secretaries Gagan Thapa and Bishwaprakash Sharma amidst disagreement from the then-central committee at the end of Poush. The Deuba and Dr Shekhar Koirala factions do not recognize the special general convention. They have been putting forward one demand after another from their side. The Deuba and Dr Shekhar factions had demanded that active members whose membership was renewed by the end of Poush for the 15th General Convention be recognized and all central members who came from the 14th General Convention be included in the central committee formed after the special general convention. Although that demand was met by the working committee, they are saying that they will not participate in the General Convention to be held from October 16 to 19 by the committee formed from the special general convention.
