Communist Party of Nepal's National Convention Schedule Affected

Kathmandu. The pre-scheduled national convention schedule of the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) has been affected. The CPN's Central Coordination Committee meeting held in May had decided to hold the convention in Kathmandu from November 11 to 15. As per the meeting's decision, a party membership renewal and new membership distribution campaign was to be conducted by the end of Ashad-Sawan. Similarly, a schedule was made public to complete the ward convention by Bhadra 15, the local level convention from Bhadra 16 to the end of the month, the district convention by the end of Ashwin, and the provincial convention by November 15. However, work has not been done according to the convention schedule so far. Party spokesperson Prakash Jwala informed that the schedule will be revised in a way that the central convention date will not be affected. He said that for that, the Central Coordination Committee meeting will be held immediately after Teej. 'Party membership renewal has not been done according to the convention schedule. Due to the Bhote Koshi flood, the convention has been affected in some districts. Keeping all these in mind, we will call the Central Coordination Committee soon,' Jwala said. He said that the party has paid attention to the complaint of the lower committees that there was a problem due to the lack of necessary procedures to complete the convention, even though the center had made the convention schedule public. 'The upcoming meeting will also make the convention procedures concrete. The schedule will also come out with the convention to be held in Mangsir,' he said. Before the elections held in Falgun, the party was formed as the Communist Party of Nepal by uniting 25 components including the former CPN (Maoist Center), CPN (Unified Socialist), etc.
