Mobility, or traffic, has become an indispensable element of modern society. It is said that to know how civilised a society is, one should look at the country's traffic management. Unfortunately, there has been widespread chaos in our traffic management as reflected in frequent road accidents across the country. Statistics show that nearly 75 fatal accidents occur in the country every day. As a result, around 4,500 people lose their lives annually, meaning roughly 15 people die on the roads each day. In most cases, fatal accidents occur due to non-compliance with traffic rules. During the decade-long Maoist insurgency, around 17,000 people died but the same number of people are dying every four years. Youths constitute the highest number of the casualties.
