Nepali politics has yet to set a predictable course where all political actors converge on national goals and coordinate institutional means for a rational course of political development. The aftermath of the generation-Z revolt unfolded this uncanny situation where even reasoned political analysts and those in higher positions of authority in Nepal felt horror, surprise and an enigmatic twist. Populism has caught Nepali politics in the troubling crossroads of manipulation of political communication, where digital platforms, deep fakes and media-mediated images smeared the boundaries between imaginary narratives of democracy and brutal sadism, thus bringing to the ordinary minds profound mental uneasiness and somber wisp. Uncanny politics has easily consumed the nation’s social capital that binds multi-generation of Nepali families, communities, societies and the state in democratic structures and constitution.
