Debate Intensifies Over Slowing AI Development Amidst Risks and Competition

As the rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) opens new possibilities in human life, a debate has intensified to slow down the pace of development to control its risks. After Dario Amodei, CEO of the American AI company Anthropic, stated that more caution should be exercised in AI development, US President Donald Trump strongly opposed it. Trump claimed that a strong and intelligent presidential leadership is sufficient for the necessary controls or safety standards (guardrails) for AI.

The proposal to slow down the pace of AI development has simultaneously intensified debates related to the technology industry, investment market, and national security. On one hand, AI is expected to bring significant benefits in medicine, research, productivity, and daily life, while on the other hand, concerns are being expressed that its uncontrolled development could lead to serious risks in cybersecurity, human control, the environment, and power centralization.
