CPN UML Criticizes Government Over Price Hikes Amidst Festival Season

Kathmandu. CPN UML has stated that the government has failed to control the price hike of daily essential goods as the festivals approach. A press note issued by UML Publicity and Publication Department Chief Niraj Acharya on Wednesday alleged that the government is engaged in diversionary politics to cover up its failures and weaknesses instead of providing relief to the public. Acharya claimed that the government has failed in the supply and management of daily essential goods and in controlling black marketeering. He said, 'Prices are increasing in a way that breaks the backs of the public as the cultural festivals of Nepalis approach.' Accusing the government of harassing the public by failing to ensure the smooth supply and management of gas, Acharya stated that propaganda is being spread against UML. According to him, an attempt was made to defame the party by accusing a businessman of the Poudel surname from Lalitpur of hoarding gas, giving him the 'artificial identity' of a UML central member. He also accused government-protected political party cadres of misusing social media to spread confusion, engage in cyberbullying, and incite social disharmony. Acharya claimed that such activities are being carried out to divert attention from the government's failures and the public's problems and condemned them. He warned that the politics of confusion and propaganda will not last long and that misleading content spread on social media and details of the individuals involved will be made public with evidence. 'Don't confuse the public, have the courage to answer for your weaknesses,' Acharya said.
