MP Tamang Demands Nepal Rastra Bank Annual Report Submission to Parliament

Kathmandu. Opposition party Nepali Communist Party MP Parshuram Tamang has demanded that arrangements be made for the annual report of Nepal Rastra Bank to be presented in Parliament. Speaking in the discussion on the committee's report on the bill to amend the Nepal Rastra Bank Act, 2058, in the meeting of the Finance Committee on Wednesday, he expressed this view.

MP Tamang stated that the path to formally record his dissenting opinions, which were raised in the committee but could not be included in the decision, should be opened. He argued that a regulatory body like the central bank should also be accountable to Parliament, the supreme body of people's representatives. Tamang also raised questions about the issue where, on one hand, the autonomy of the central bank is emphasized, but on the other hand, the provision for the Government of Nepal to give instructions to the central bank has been reinstated.
