Rastriya Swatantra Party MP Lalbikram Thapa Draws Attention to Flood Threat in Itahari and Duhabi

Kathmandu. Rastriya Swatantra Party MP Lalbikram Thapa has drawn the government's attention to the threat to settlements in Itahari and Duhabi due to the breach of the Sera Khola dam located at the head of Itahari. Speaking in the House of Representatives meeting on Wednesday, Thapa drew the attention of the government through the parliament for immediate repair of the dam, identification of risky areas, and effective steps for flood control. 'Just yesterday, the river changed its course and entered Itahari,' Thapa said, 'and so far, the Tangra river is holding it back, but the situation could become dire with heavy rainfall.' He stated that the risk of significant loss of life and property from Itahari to Khanar towards Duhabi has increased if the floodwaters of Sera Khola enter the market. He also said that Itahari drowns in floods every year, and at this time, Itahari is waiting for the government to save its existence.
