Japanese Encephalitis Claims 26 Lives in Nepal, 100% Unvaccinated

Kathmandu. The death toll from Japanese Encephalitis (JE) infection in Nepal has reached 26. According to the situation report issued by the Family Welfare Division under the Department of Health Services, Ministry of Health and Population, 26 people have died in 16 districts of the country. The highest number of deaths, 6, are from Jhapa.

Similarly, 2 each have died in Sunsari, Saptari, Parsa, Kailali and Arghakhanchi, and 1 each in Morang, Ilam, Rautahat, Dhanusha, Kavre, Dang, Tanahu, Nawalparasi (West), Kanchanpur and Rolpa. Most recently, 2 people, 1 each in Rolpa and Tanahu, have died.
