Boost Recovery Process

After the Bhotekoshi flash flood in Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading and Chitwan left a trail of deaths and destruction almost three weeks ago, the government faces a monumental reconstruction task in the affected areas. A Rapid Damage and Needs Assessment (RDNA) states that around Rs. 723 billion is required to construct the infrastructure destroyed by the flood. This is indeed a huge amount that the country alone can’t arrange without support from the international community. In the short term, it needs Rs. 8.74 billion for emergency relief, road and bridge construction and debris clearance. Support for emergency relief for victims has been pouring in. The government is pulling out all the stops to manage resources and expedite reconstruction so the recovery process gains pace and affected people return to normal life soon.
