Chitwan Irrigation Project Provides 24-Hour Water Supply, Incurs High Electricity Costs

Chitwan. The Narayani Lift-Khageri Irrigation Project in Chitwan has been providing 24-hour irrigation facilities to farmers in western Chitwan from the Narayani River during the monsoon season.

The project's pumps operate 24 hours a day, incurring electricity expenses of up to Rs 4.2 million per month. The project stated that water is continuously drawn from the Narayani River through two pumps to provide irrigation facilities to 4,700 hectares of arable land in western Chitwan during the monsoon.
