Government Funds Unspent Amidst Flood Disaster Relief Efforts

Kathmandu. Floods in the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli rivers have washed away numerous settlements and claimed hundreds of lives. Thousands of relatives are still in mourning, not even knowing where the bodies of their loved ones are.

Currently, citizens are mourning their deceased relatives, looking at their washed-away homes and the mud from the floods. On one hand, they have not received even cremation expenses or basic relief amounts from the state for sympathy, while on the other hand, billions of rupees collected in the name of disaster in the state's treasury are lying idle. Relief materials worth crores of rupees are piled up in government warehouses.
