Constitution Day Celebrated in Jhapa, Marginalized Communities Reflect on Progress and Challenges

Jhapa. 73-year-old Rajbanshi community leader Phoolsingh Rajbanshi of Bhadrapur Municipality-7, Jhapa, feels there have been some positive changes in his community since the promulgation of the constitution. The presence of people from his own community as representatives at various levels of the state and increased opportunities to voice their concerns are significant changes for him.

In terms of education, employment, and economic status, he experiences that the rights granted by the constitution have not yet reached every household in the community. "Previously, there were fewer people listening to us. Now, we have representatives from our own community in the local government, and we have the opportunity to voice our concerns," he said, "but looking at the education, employment, and economic status of our children, the rights granted by the constitution have not yet reached every household."
