Woman Arrested in Kathmandu for Allegedly Defrauding Job Seekers with False Promises of UK Employment

Kathmandu. Police have arrested a woman for defrauding unemployed youths by promising to send them for foreign employment in the United Kingdom. Thirty-six-year-old Kumari Tamang, originally from Tarshewar Rural Municipality-1, Nuwakot, and currently residing in Kathmandu, was arrested on allegations of defrauding victims of 790,000 Nepali Rupees by luring them with the promise of attractive salaries.

According to the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, Tamang kept two victims in suspense for a long time under the pretext of sending them to the UK. After she took the money and disappeared without sending them abroad, the police began searching for her based on the complaints filed by the victims.
