Former Minister Barshaman Pun Warns Against Undermining Constitution

Kathmandu. Nepali Communist Party MP and former minister Varshaman Pun has stated that attempts to attack or rewrite the fundamental structures of the constitution could push the country back into conflict.

Speaking at a program organized in Kathmandu on 'Second Decade of Constitution Implementation: Opportunities and Challenges', he said this. He stated that the achievements established through the struggle and sacrifice during the constitution-making process should not be easily denied or weakened. Pun, interpreting federalism, republic, secularism, inclusivity, and social justice as the fundamental foundations of the constitution, warned that attempts to weaken these structures could lead to another phase of conflict in the country. He said that the constitution should be developed by addressing the changing power balance, new political forces, and new possibilities. He stated that if this is done, the country will achieve political stability.
