CPN (Maoist Centre) Coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' Warns of Street Protests After Festivals

Kathmandu. Nepali Communist Party (NCP) Coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has warned of taking to the streets in protest against the government immediately after Dashain and Tihar. He issued such a warning on Friday while addressing the central committee meeting of the All Nepal Peasants' Federation in Kathmandu. He accused the so-called new government of oppressing the landless, disorganized citizens, laborers, farmers, students, and trade unions. He informed that efforts are underway to bring together opposition parties against the government's activities and style of functioning. He stated that preparations are being made to launch a strong protest against the government's activities after evaluating the country's situation post-festivals. He claimed that the confusion among the public is gradually clearing due to the government's actions, and attraction towards old and established political parties, leaders, and their agendas is increasing again. Addressing the meeting of the All Nepal Peasants' Federation, Coordinator Dahal said, 'We have gradually brought all the opposition parties together in the parliament. The so-called new government has started oppressing, committing atrocities, and excesses against the landless, laborers, farmers, students, intellectuals, trade unions, and all companions of the labor movement.' Clarifying the preparations for the protest, he added, 'There is a need to form a broad joint front against it and go into protest. We are also preparing for that. Looking at the country's situation after the festivals, we have to initiate a new step, a new protest, a new movement against the counter-revolutionary conspiracy.' Speaking about the awakening among the public, he said, 'We believe that within a few months, the confusion that the public had due to the activities of this so-called new government will be dispelled. The confusion is being torn apart. And in a new way, the public's attraction towards established parties, established leaders, and their agendas is increasing day by day.' Discussing the public support for his party, he said, 'Wherever we go in the Madhesh, Bagmati, or any part of the country, I have felt that the attraction towards the Nepali Communist Party is increasing among the people. If we all go to the people from our respective places and can make them understand, then the people are in a position to come to our movement soon.' Coordinator Dahal also accused the current government of being completely unable to solve the basic problems of the citizens and work in their favor.
