Nepal Faces LP Gas Shortage Amidst Supply Chain Questions

Kathmandu. While there are 1 crore 75 lakh LP gas cylinders available across the country, the monthly consumption is only around 33 lakh. As soon as there is a slight disruption in supply, a severe gas shortage is observed in the market, raising a serious question of where the remaining approximately 1 crore 42 lakh cylinders are being stored.

According to the Nepal LP Gas Industry Association, there are currently around 1 crore 75 lakh gas cylinders across the country. In normal conditions, the market consumes around 1 lakh 10 thousand cylinders daily. By this calculation, about 33 lakh cylinders per month are sufficient to easily meet the demand of the entire country.
