Nuwakot Rural Municipality Chairman Veerbal Tamang Sent to Jail for Failing to Post Bail

Kathmandu. Nuwakot's Kisspang Rural Municipality Chairman Veerbal Tamang has been sent to the Central Jail Sundhara to be held in custody. The Kathmandu District Court has sent him to jail after he was unable to pay the Rs 2.2 million bail amount set in two banking offense cases, the Kathmandu District Police Range informed. On Thursday, the Kathmandu District Court had ordered bail of Rs 1.6 million and Rs 600,000 respectively in the two banking offense cases against Tamang. Tamang was arrested by the police from the south gate of Singha Durbar on August 29 while leaving after a discussion with Prime Minister Balen Shah. According to police records, 10 criminal cases have been filed against Tamang. Tamang, who operates Ocean Transport and Adventure Pvt. Ltd. in Kathmandu's Nayabazar, has also been urged by other bodies for further investigation. The Revenue Tribunal and the District Police Range Bhaktapur have written to the District Police Range Kathmandu to present Tamang, who has been sent to jail for not paying bail in two cases, for further investigation.
