Manaslu Residents Begin Hunger Strike Demanding Climate Change Risk Mitigation and Glacier Lake Conservation

Gorkha. Residents of the Manaslu region have started a hunger strike demanding mitigation of risks arising from climate change and conservation of glacial lakes.

Dawa Norbu Lama and 11 other youths from Samagaun, Chumanubri Rural Municipality-1, have begun a hunger strike at the Manaslu base camp starting today, presenting eight demands including mitigation of risks arising from climate change. They have started their hunger strike at an altitude of 4,900 meters above the Manaslu base camp.
