Karnali Province Speaker Nanda Gurung Highlights Progress Since Constitution

Surkhet. Speaker of Karnali Province, Nanda Gurung, has stated that the country has seen many progressive changes, including political and social, through the long struggle and sacrifice of the Nepali people. She said that the institutional development of those changes is the need of the hour. She said this in a message of best wishes on the occasion of Constitution Day and National Day-2083. The constitution has bound the diverse Nepali society with the thread of great national unity. She said, 'It has been 11 years since the constitution was drafted and promulgated. During this time, we have accomplished many tasks for the institutionalization of democracy.' She added, 'The constitution is an important document for fulfilling the aspirations of lasting peace, good governance, and prosperity through a federal democratic republican system.' She stated that the constitution has resolved to end the discrimination and oppression created by the feudal, autocratic, centralized, and unitary state system and to build a society of economic equality, social justice, and inclusive participation. She further added, 'To achieve that goal, we must emphasize the optimal use of the country's available resources, knowledge, skills, and capabilities, and establish equal access for all citizens to the services and facilities provided by the state.' She said that the role of all parties is important in the protection and implementation of the constitution, and it is the responsibility of all to ensure peace, development, prosperity, and social justice in the country by exercising the rights given by the constitution. She said, 'I express my belief that all bodies will play a just role in the observance and implementation of the constitution.' She added, 'National unity becomes stronger and more robust only through the successful implementation of the constitution. Therefore, I call upon everyone to move forward in accordance with the spirit and intention of the constitution, keeping the welfare of the people and the prosperity of the nation paramount.'
