20th Asian Games Begin in Japan with New Sports and Olympic Qualifiers

Kathmandu. The 20th Asian Games are starting today in Japan. The event, organized in Japan's Aichi Prefecture and Nagoya city, will run from September 19 to October 4. In this edition, named 'Aichi-Nagoya 2026', more than 11,000 athletes from 45 Asian countries will participate.

This is the third time Japan is hosting the Asian Games. Previously, Tokyo hosted the Asian Games in 1958 and Hiroshima in 1994. This time, the Asian Games will be held in 54 venues. Some structures used in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics are also being used for the competition.
