KP Sharma Oli Asserts Party's Steadfastness Amidst Opposition

Kathmandu. CPN UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has said that no matter how much the opposition pulls his legs, the party will move forward with determination towards its goals and work. Speaking at a program organized on Constitution Day at the party's central office in Chyasal on Saturday, Oli claimed that all attempts to weaken UML would fail. He termed the rumors spread in the media about the party splitting and leadership change as baseless and false propaganda. Comparing himself to Bhishma Pitamah of the Mahabharata, Oli said that even though he fell on his deathbed after being showered with arrows, he is still standing. 'Bhishma Pitamah fell on his bed after a shower of arrows,' he said, 'but KP Oli has not fallen, he is standing and is in the field again.' He recalled that Amar Singh Thapa fought with a sword at the age of 74 and clarified that although he did not have to carry a heavy sword, he was in the battlefield with a small pen. Stating that he has reached this point after fighting ten Mahabharatas in his political life, he claimed that none of the opponents' efforts would succeed. Oli expressed confidence that the central committee meeting to be held from Ashoj 5 to 7 will solve all the problems within the party and bind them with the thread of strong unity. He warned not to dream of finishing the party, saying that they would come out with a strong resolution with a grand statement from that meeting. He said that only UML has the ability to realize mistakes and move forward by returning to the old state (realization and resilience). He said that UML is always ready to wrestle with reactionaries and in the end, progressive forces will win. He clarified that although falsehood and regression may seem to win for a moment, truth always triumphs. Speaking on the issue of constitutional amendment, Oli clarified that UML is in favor of constitutional amendment for progress. He argued that while Nepal's constitution is excellent in terms of fundamental rights, shortcomings observed based on experience should be removed. He said that the constitutional amendment should not be made a ritualistic act like tying a cat during a shraddha. 'We are still in favor of constitutional amendment,' he said, 'but it should be a positive amendment to move the country forward, not to spoil the constitution, for regression or retrogression.' He accused the current ruling party of misusing its majority and doing arbitrary things in the name of executive power, making the constitution a burden. He commented that the National Assembly is in favor of the current constitution and positive amendment, but the decisive forces are not in the House of Representatives. Oli termed the movement held on Bhadra 23 and 24 as a well-planned conspiracy. He claimed that although he had instructed not to suppress and not to shoot during the movement, a murder was carried out by infiltration. 'Last year, a plan for a general massacre and mass murder was hatched,' he said, 'on the 23rd, youth were unnecessarily killed, and using that as an excuse, on the 24th, looting, violence, and anarchy were spread nationwide.' He commented that it was a conspiracy to eat the cucumber and stick the seeds on UML's face. Presenting pictures of setting fire to Singha Durbar and the Parliament building as pre-prepared, he hinted at the involvement of external forces. He said it was mysterious how the shots were fired even when he instructed not to suppress. Stating that attempts are being made to turn the country back to an era of darkness and anarchy, Oli said that forceful methods are being adopted against the law and procedures. He accused international media and powers of trying to push Nepal in the wrong direction. He cited the example of BBC trying to push Nepal in the wrong direction by broadcasting false information during the silent period in the last election. 'Even some international media claiming to be established are trying to mislead the public by spreading falsehoods in Nepal,' he said. Stating that various forces are active to prevent Nepal from moving forward through democratic methods, he urged all the people of Nepal to be vigilant and not to let the country be ruined. He claimed that only UML will lead the country forward by focusing on national interest without getting entangled in personal interests.
