Bagmati Province Government Completes Eight Years and Seven Months

Hetauda. The practice of the Bagmati Province government, which began after the Constitution of Nepal 2072 arranged a three-tiered state structure of federal, provincial, and local levels under a federal governance system, has completed approximately eight years and seven months. After the constitution, the first provincial government was formed under the leadership of Dormani Poudel with the establishment of the Provincial Assembly through the elections held in 2074. Since then, the province has expanded its presence in areas such as roads, bridges, health, education, agriculture, drinking water, irrigation, and tourism by establishing ministries, administrative bodies, laws, and budget systems.

Initially known as Province No. 3, this province was named 'Bagmati' by the Provincial Assembly on Poush 27, 2076 BS, with Hetauda designated as its permanent capital. During this period, the leadership of the provincial government has changed multiple times. After Poudel, Ashta Laxmi Shakya, Rajendra Prasad Pandey, Shaligram Jammakattel, Bahadur Singh Lama, and Indrabahadur Baniya have led the government. Currently, Kiran Thapamagar is leading the Bagmati Province government.
