Kathmandu. Captain of the Nepali cricket team, Dipendra Singh Airee, who is about to participate in the 20th Asian Games (Asiad) officially starting today in Japan, has said that the goal is to win a medal this time. Speaking to reporters at the farewell program of the Nepali cricket team on Saturday, Dipendra said that he started preparing for the Asiad three-four months ago. He mentioned that all the players in the team are well-prepared and expressed confidence that they will perform better than in previous participations this time. "I had prepared by staying in Nepal for some time. I had already started my training three-four months ago," he said, "Now, meeting everyone, the preparation is going well." Dipendra said that Nepal will enter the field with the goal of winning every match in the Asiad. He shared that although the team's main goal is a gold medal, he has a desire to bring at least one medal to Nepal. "I am excited to win every match. The goal is to bring the gold medal this time," he said, "We are going with expectations. The rest will depend on the field once we get there." He expressed hope that the Nepali team's players are all doing well in their respective positions and that better results will come this time than in the previous edition. "The team is good this time. Hopefully, we will do even better than the last time. Everyone is doing well in their respective places," said Dipendra. Nepal has not won a medal in cricket in the Asiad before. Therefore, Dipendra said that he has a desire to return with at least a medal this time. "Even if not a gold medal, I have a desire to bring a medal. Nepal could not bring it before, but there is hope that it will bring it this time," he said. When asked about the discussion and potential presence of big names like Indian cricket star Sachin Tendulkar associated with the Asiad, Dipendra said that the presence of such international names would be encouraging for Nepal. "Earlier too, other big names had come. They are coming now too. It is going very well for Nepal," he said.
