The English language’s indispensable position in Nepali life: Is (not) it a problem?

It is not uncommon that most boarding schools in Nepal give high priority to the English language; it is also not uncommon that most of us tend to speak more English than our national language itself. English has been a source of communication for so many people in Nepal that sometimes it makes me wonder if English is officially the second language of Nepal.

Although English was once considered a foreign language in Nepal, it now has a multi-faceted position as an additional language, a second language, and even a primary language. The language has now become an indispensable component of Nepali life , affecting all aspects of their lives.
