Africa could start mpox vaccinations within days

Munigi, eastern Congo, Aug. 22: Last week the World Health Organization (WHO) declared that an outbreak of mpox, a viral infection that spreads through close contact, represents a global health emergency for the second time in two years. An outbreak of mpox in the Democratic Republic of Congo has spread to neighbouring countries and more than 1,400 additional mpox cases have been detected over the past week.
