Nepal Appoints Former Army Chief Gaurav Shumsher Rana as New Ambassador to UK

London. With the recommendation of the Government of Nepal for the new ambassador to Britain, former Chief of Army Staff Gaurav Shumsher Jang Bahadur Rana, the nine-decade-long diplomatic history of the Nepali Embassy in London has once again come into focus.

Constitutional and diplomatic processes, including parliamentary hearings, are yet to be completed for the appointment. After approval from the parliamentary hearing committee and receipt of agrément (agreement) from the concerned country, the President will formally appoint. Upon completion of this process, Rana will become the 24th ambassador of Nepal to Britain, adding a new chapter to the 92-year-long diplomatic tradition.
