Upholding Constitution

The country marked the 11th Constitution Day on Saturday with various programmes across the nation. Voices are being raised from different corners of society to address the demands of the new generation in the constitution to ensure its sustainability. The conscience of the rulers and the people depends upon the functionality of the constitution. The constitution in its black-and-white form does not work on its own, but the actors of the statute should be honest to the spirit of the statute, which was drafted by the Constituent Assembly under the modern and democratic constitution-making principles and process over a decade ago. Moreover, constitutional provisions should be flexible except for their fundamental democratic values. Rigid constitutional provisions and a lack of timely amendment to them may invite complexities. As a result, people may launch a fresh movement to get their demands addressed.
