Nepal Secures At Least Two Medals in Karate at Asian Games

Kathmandu. Nepal has secured at least two medals from Karate in the ongoing 20th Asian Games in Japan. With Min Bahadur Tamang and Rakesh Manandhar reaching the semi-finals in their respective weight categories in men's kumite, Nepal has confirmed at least two bronze medals. Min Bahadur is competing in the men's under 60 kg category, and Rakesh is competing in the under 55 kg category. As both players have reached the semi-finals, they will also compete for gold or silver. Even if defeated in the semi-finals, both players will receive a bronze medal. The men's under 55 kg and 60 kg competitions in Karate under the Asian Games are taking place on Sunday at the Toyohashi Gymnasium. According to the competition schedule, the bronze medal matches for both weight categories are also scheduled for today. Karate has been a sport with medal potential for Nepal. Earlier on Sunday, in women's individual kata, Nepal's Sanumaya Thing was defeated 5-0 by South Korea's Cho Ha-hyun in the round of 16. Nepal has won a total of 26 medals in the Asian Games so far, including 23 bronze and three silver. In the history of the Asiad, Nepal has not yet won a gold medal.
