Government Starts Printing Electronic Driving Licenses via New System

Kathmandu. The government has started printing driving licenses through the electronic driving license and vehicle registration system (EDLVRSS) which came into effect from Shrawan 1. The Department of Transport Management under the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure Development has started printing through the new system to address the service recipient pressure and the long-standing problem of license printing. The new system will make the process of obtaining a new license and renewing an old license faster, easier, and more service-oriented. The service recipient's details uploaded to EDLVRSS will directly reach the security printing, and the security printing will print the license and send it to the concerned transport management service office via post. This will solve the old problem seen in license printing and distribution. In the first phase, 3,081 driving licenses of Madhesh Province have been printed and sent to the concerned transport management service offices via post for distribution. Driving license can be printed by the concerned provincial government by contracting with security printing. Accordingly, the Madhesh Province government has contracted with security printing and is printing licenses under its own management. Similarly, the Lumbini Province government also contracted with security printing on Friday and started printing driving licenses. In case the provincial government has not contracted with security printing, the printing of licenses has been arranged in coordination with the Department of Transport Management and security printing, keeping in mind the service recipient pressure and problems. The Ministry of Physical Infrastructure has stated that with the start of license printing through the new system, the responsibility of printing according to the province is being managed and arrangements have been implemented to provide driving licenses to service recipients easily, quickly, and on time.
