CPN-UML Secretary Mahesh Basnet Claims Task Force Agrees Not to Demand Chairman KP Sharma Oli's Resignation

Kathmandu. CPN-UML Secretary Mahesh Basnet has claimed that the task force meeting agreed not to demand Chairman KP Sharma Oli's resignation. Speaking to journalists after the UML's election review and party reorganization task force meeting concluded on Sunday, he claimed that the report did not include any mention of removing Chairman Oli anywhere. 'There are circumstances where some members want the UML to split. Keeping all these circumstances in mind, after the task force's meeting, we had assigned three leaders to bring a consolidated report incorporating all the draft proposals that came. Based on that, a consolidated report came today,' Basnet said, 'We made that the main basis for discussion. We will further explain some other matters in that regard.' He stated that there was an agreement not to demand the chairman's resignation anywhere, not to remove the chairman anywhere, and not to criticize the chairman anywhere. 'An agreement has been reached to convene a National Council meeting in a way that demonstrates the party's strong unity, moves the party forward in a militant manner, and launches a strong movement against the current government's authoritarian, vengeful, autocratic, and anti-people style,' said Secretary Basnet.
