Major Parties Divided Amidst Plans for Anti-Government Protests

Kathmandu. Major parties preparing for strong protests against the government after Dashain-Tihar are themselves entangled in internal disputes. The major opposition parties Nepali Congress, CPN UML, and Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) which were preparing for a joint protest in favor of nationality, democracy, protection of the constitution, and people's livelihood, are facing peak internal disputes.

However, former Prime Minister and CPN convenor Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' claimed that a joint protest against the government would take place after Dashain-Tihar, depending on the situation. Addressing the central committee meeting of All Nepal Peasants' Federation on October 2nd, Prachanda had said that a joint protest would be held against the government led by Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP).
