Madhesh Province Government's Audit Irregularities Increase by NPR 1.87 Billion in One Year

Janakpurdham. The audit irregularities of the Madhesh Province Government have increased by NPR 1.87 billion in a single year. According to the eighth annual report of the Auditor General, 2083, the total audit irregularities of the province government have reached NPR 10.98 billion. As per the Auditor General's report, out of the NPR 49.69 billion transaction of the province government's ministries, offices, committees, and other organizations, NPR 1.87 billion has been shown as audit irregularities. This is 3.77 percent of the total audited amount. As the audit irregularities are increasing instead of being settled year after year, the provincial government has made a special plan to control them. Ministry sources have informed that the Ministry of Finance will send teams to all offices in a few days to monitor and investigate the settlement of audit irregularities. Finance Minister Yuvraj Bhattarai admitted that the audit irregularities are increasing instead of being settled and said that the ministry is working to reduce them. Out of the total audit irregularities, NPR 1.36 billion is of a nature that needs to be regularized. This is 72.99 percent of the total audit irregularities. Among the audit irregularities to be regularized, NPR 590 million is due to irregularities, NPR 750 million is due to non-submission of documentary evidence, and NPR 20 million is due to non-reimbursement.
