Erika Gurung Finishes Without Medal in Asian Games Karate

Kathmandu. Karate player Erika Gurung, in whom Nepal had placed great hopes, has finished without a medal in the 20th Asian Games ongoing in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. In the women's above 68 kg kumite, Erika was defeated by Saudi Arabia's Dina Ahmed 8-7 in the bronze medal match on Sunday.

After being defeated in the semi-finals, Erika competed for the bronze, but lost the match by a single point, ending her chances of winning a medal in this Asian Games. Erika had started the competition impressively. In the quarter-finals, she defeated Jordan's Yara Nasser by a wide margin of 7-1 to secure a place in the final four.
