China Deploys National Data Centers for Disaster Relief in Nepal-China Border Region

Kathmandu. China has mobilized its national data centers to provide emergency services to help with the avalanche and natural disaster caused by it in the China-Nepal border area. This service has been made available for rescue efforts in the disaster-affected areas of Chirong County in the Tibet Autonomous Region of Southwest China. The National Cryosphere Desert Data Center (NCDC) has so far provided 53 datasets, with a total data volume of approximately 85 GB. These data can be downloaded and used by relevant emergency response, rescue, and research organizations. This data comes from various research organizations including NCDC, National Earthquake Data Center, National Satellite Ocean Application Center, and Chinese Resources Satellite Data and Application Center. These shared data sets are China's efforts to use technical means for disaster and relief. The China National Space Administration has said that it has coordinated and mobilized satellite resources to perform emergency 'imaging' of the landslide-affected area and to retrieve historical 'imagery' of the area.
