Scaling Cervical Cancer Screening

Cervical cancer kills more Nepali women than almost any other cancer. It does not have to. Unlike most cancers, cervical cancer is almost entirely preventable. We have known its cause for decades. We have a vaccine. We have simple, accurate screening tests that can detect risk before cancer develops. And yet women in Madhes Province — in communities I know well, communities that look like much of rural Nepal — are still dying from it. Not because the tools don't exist, but because the systems to deliver them don't.
