Government Forms Committee to Investigate Bribery Allegations in Pokhara Nursing Home Bed Upgrade

Pokhara. The provincial government has formed a committee to investigate allegations of bribery bargaining in the process of granting bed upgrade permission to Padam Nursing Home in Pokhara. Health Ministry Secretary Dr. Yuwanidhi Basoula has been removed from his responsibilities. The Gandaki Provincial Council of Ministers has made such a decision after the names of the former Health Minister, Secretary, and employees were implicated in irregularities during the permission process.

Basoula has been removed from his responsibilities and transferred on a temporary basis to the Chief Minister's Office. Government Spokesperson and Minister of Economic Affairs, Jit Bahadur Sherchan, issued a statement saying that a decision has been made to investigate. 'A three-member investigation committee, headed by the Deputy Secretary of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers' Office, has been formed to investigate the legal provisions, practices, and other matters related to permissions granted by the Ministry of Health in the past two years and to submit a report within 15 days,' Sherchan said. The provincial government has written to the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority for further investigation. 'The Chief Minister and Council of Ministers' Office has decided to correspond with the Pokhara office of the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority for a thorough investigation into the hospital upgrade case,' he said.
