VAT on Electricity to be Removed After Agreement Between Energy and Finance Ministers

Kathmandu. There has been a theoretical agreement between the Minister of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Biraj Bhakta Shrestha, and the Finance Minister regarding the removal of Value Added Tax (VAT) applied to electricity.

During discussions held on Monday, Energy Minister Shrestha proposed removing VAT on electricity. Ministry sources have stated that the Finance Minister, Swarnim, was also positive about the proposal and a theoretical agreement has been reached.
