Rastriya Prajatantra Party Lawmaker Gyan Bahadur Shahi Objects to Ambassador Appointments, Citing Criteria Violations

Kathmandu. Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) party leader Gyan Bahadur Shahi has objected, stating that the government has violated the criteria it set for appointing ambassadors.

MP Shahi raised questions, stating that there is a mismatch between the criteria for ambassador appointments published by the government through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the proposed names. Speaking during an emergency session of the House of Representatives, Shahi said that point number 10 of the criteria issued by the government states that 'a person working in a non-governmental organization operated by international or foreign aid is ineligible to be an ambassador.' Similarly, point number 14 states that 'if one has worked in a salaried position by a foreign state, at least 10 years must have passed since leaving that position.'
