Parliamentary Committee Formed to Study Climate Change and BhoteKoshi-Trishuli Disaster

Kathmandu. A 'Parliamentary Special Committee on Climate Change in the Himalayas and BhoteKoshi-Trishuli Disaster' has been formed by the House of Representatives to study the loss of life and property and the destructive disaster caused by the flood in BhoteKoshi on the 10th of Bhadra. The proposal to form the committee by Speaker Dolprasad Aryal was unanimously approved in Monday's meeting.

Speaker Aryal said that the parliament formed the committee by prioritizing it nationally after the flood in the BhoteKoshi and Trishuli river systems caused not only great loss of life and property but also affected civilization as a whole. He said that the main task of the committee will be to scientifically study the increasing impact of climate change, the condition of glaciers, and the risks they pose to the lower riparian areas.
