Government to Reduce Intermediaries in Agricultural Supply Chain

Kathmandu. Minister for Agriculture, Forest and Environment, Gita Chaudhary, has stated that the government has taken special initiative to remove the unnatural interference of intermediaries in the agricultural produce supply chain. She provided this information while speaking at the National Assembly meeting on Monday.

Minister Chaudhary said that to solve the problem of farmers not getting the appropriate price for their produce and consumers having to pay exorbitant prices, the government has formed a supply chain reform task force and is moving forward with its study. Member of Parliament, Rukmini Koirala, had drawn the minister's attention to the situation where farmers do not get a fair price for tomatoes in the field, but the price triples by the time it reaches the consumer.
