Government to Revise School Education Curriculum After Seven Years

Kathmandu. The government is preparing to revise the school education curriculum after seven years. The Curriculum Development Center has stated that suggestions received from stakeholders are being integrated. Director of the Curriculum Development Center, Purushottam Ghimire, said that suggestions from teachers, students, parents, and policymakers are being compiled. He said, 'The National Curriculum Framework for School Education 2076 is being revised. We are currently entering suggestions rapidly.' Ghimire stated that after analyzing and synthesizing the suggestions, a decision will be made on which subjects will be included and which will not. He said, 'The work of classifying suggestions is underway. The curriculum revision work is progressing rapidly.'

Shailendra Jha, chief advisor to the Minister of Education, Sasmita Pokharel, said that the revised curriculum will be implemented from the next academic session. He said, 'The process of printing textbooks takes time, but sometimes some processes need to be expedited during revision. It may not be fully possible to print new books and conduct teaching this year, but our plan is to implement the revision in teaching methods and classroom teaching, focusing on the framework, from the next academic session.' According to the Ministry of Education, students will continue their studies with old textbooks in the new academic session. Even if new books cannot be implemented immediately, the Ministry of Education is preparing to instruct the relevant bodies to reduce the workload of the current course by revising the scope of the curriculum.
