Nepali Congress Ward Conventions Face Allegations of Irregularities and Fraud

Biratnagar. The ward conventions under the 15th General Convention of the Nepali Congress are in the final stages. The Gagan Thapa faction, which has been moving forward since becoming party president through a special general convention, is conducting ward level conventions in most parts of the country. However, the faction including former party president Sher Bahadur Deuba and senior leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala has stayed away, calling the entire process illegal.

The disgruntled faction has already announced that it will advance the process for another general convention from October 15. In this context, a detailed conversation with Nepali Congress leader and former Chief Minister of Koshi Province, Kedar Karki, about the ward conventions being conducted by the establishment faction, active membership, the risk of party division, and future politics is presented here.
