Sacred Water and Offerings from Sankhu's Madhav Narayan Brought to Hanumandhoka Durbar

Water and floral offerings from Madhav Narayan in Sankhu Shalinadi were brought today to the World Heritage Site, Hanumandhoka Durbar. Every year on the eighth day of the dark half of the month of Falgun, the tradition involves taking water from the large kalash (urn) of Madhav Narayan in Shalinadi, Sankhu, along with floral offerings, to present to the deities in the Hanumandhoka Durbar area and subsequently to the royal palace.

Although the Madhav Narayan festival concludes on the full moon day of Magh Shukla, the tradition of taking the water and floral offerings to Hanumandhoka Durbar only occurs eight days later, a practice that has been in place for a long time.
