Nepal to export extra 200 MW power to India, setting new record in electricity trade

KATHMANDU, Aug 12: The Government of India has agreed to purchase an additional 200 megawatts (MW) of electricity generated from five different hydropower projects in Nepal. With this agreement, Nepal’s total export capacity to India has reached 1,010.9 MW, combining the previously authorized 810.9 MW and the newly added 200 MW. Including the 40 MW electricity export to Bangladesh, Nepal’s total approved export capacity stands at 1,050.9 MW.
